Dale Eisler is the author of two previous non-fiction books – False
Expectations and Rumours of Glory –
on Canadian history and politics. He spent 24 years as a newspaper and magazine journalist before joining the Government of
Canada in 1998 as an assistant deputy minister in the Canadian Department of Finance. In 2004 he was appointed Assistant Secretary
to Cabinet for Communications and Consultations in the Privy Council Office, which is the department of the Prime Minister.
Then, in 2007, he was named Consul General for Canada in Denver, Colorado. He is now Energy Security, Assistant Deputy Minister/
Energy Security, Prosperity and Sustainability in Ottawa, Ontario.
Anton
is his first novel. It is a story that, at its core, reflects the immigrant experience for countless thousands of people who
came to North America in the early years of the 20th century. Similar stories of hardship, persecution and the
yearning for opportunity and security often reflect the reality of immigration to North America today.
